Derek, a graduate of New York City's prestigious Stuyvesant High School, holds a bachelor's degree in Physics from the the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB). Derek is the founder at Phi Analytic Solutions, LLC.
Derek spent 30 years in the financial industry working for the most prestigious institutions of the times; Salomon Brothers and Lehman Brothers in NYC, Wachovia and Wells Fargo Banks in Charlotte, NC . During that time Derek worked as an analyst, building and managing analytic teams .
After spending 2017 honing skills at IBM University, Tableau and ABD Society of Charlotte seminars, Derek has been advising and consulting in the credit risk analytics, enterprise data management and insights spaces from 2018 to present.
Led team responsible for forecasting cash-flows (prepayments, defaults {PD} and losses {LGD}) for $50B residential mortgage collateral (RMBS and Whole Loan) in support of stress-testing/CCAR (Comprehensive Capital Analysis & Review) activities (used 3rdParty Models)
Analyzed and interpreted cash flow results to support valuations of securities.
Led the initiative to create B of A’s Enterprise Software License Compliance Remediation reporting tool
Successfully ushered client through transition from BlackRock mortgage credit risk model to Moody’s Portfolio Analyzer (MPA) model.
Designed and implemented cost effective solutions to replicate BlackRock features to back-fill where MPA fell short of client’s needs.

Built and manager Wachovia Treasury's Surveillance (Descriptive Analytics) team. Was instrumental in uncovering the short-comings of Wachovia's World Savings/Golden West $120B acquisition.
